Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite的点评
点评：give this five stars, not for the tracks, but for the incredible rock formations all along the 5 mile drive to the site from the highway. Also, the facility when you get there is great, relatively new, with shaded picnic pavilions, a clean well stocked toilet, and great information on the signs.
That being said, I’d expected to see huge dinosaur footprints, like 2 feet across, and that isn’t what this is about. These were smaller dinosaurs, with feet about 4 inches wide and……I guess I just don’t have any imagination, because I could not pick any of them out of the rock surface when I got down there. Doesn’t mean you can’t see them though!
There are signs warning about scorpions and rattlesnakes, but I saw neither of those. Also, a sign at the beginning of the road mentions needing a four-wheel-drive or high clearance vehicle, but that is only if you’re going past the track site
Oh, also, some big bird, some kind of eagle or something? It built a huge stick nest on the observation deck rafters. That was kind of cool to see up close
If you’re in the area check it out! But I don’t know that I would make a special trip for it.
