点评:Visited with two primary school aged children (one who has special needs), who were harassed and physically assaulted in the pool by a larger group of older, bigger, children (resulting in multiple large bruises and abrasions; police are now involved). I noted there was no lifeguard stationed where the pool could be fully monitored. I then immediately sought out a lifeguard for assistance; he was disinterested and unhelpful, and said I needed to report incidents as they were occurring (go figure).
When I briefly left the children alone outside of the pool shortly later to visit the (danky) bathrooms, I returned to find them extremely distressed - they were again being targeted by the same group. A lifeguard was standing alongside this time, and hadn’t stepped in. I requested he get the facility manager and call the police; he not only refused to assist - with excuses such as he wasn’t allowed to leave his post, and didn’t know who to call - but was actually jocular towards the group.
Naturally the guard’s lack of action empowered the group, who continued their aggressive behaviour, including approaching and threatening myself as we sat inside waiting for assistance, until they themselves eventually left. It was only after they’d left the facility that the duty manger stepped up, went after them and (supposedly) obtained their details, all while acting like he was doing me a favour. Meanwhile another lifeguard mentioned that one of the group had previously been trespassed from the facility - so at least one was a known troublemaker - yet still no timely assistance had been provided.
We were finally able to leave the facility after the group had stopped hanging around the entrance.
Pretty damn disgusting.
So overall, perhaps at a pinch try the other pool in town?! Otherwise, don’t assume your children will be safe in the pool, even if they can swim, and even if you’re poolside. You need to be in there with them, fully armed (with inflatables, of course).
