Thorold is amazing!
Lock 7 Viewing Complex的点评
点评：Thorold is a beautiful and very interesting place! The entire downtown has been historically designated and is absolutely beautiful! ( It is currently featured in an Ontario Hydro tv commercial.)
There are unique, one of a kind shops, run by their local owners. (i.e., Shannon Passero /The Post Office). There are three great restaurants downtown, too. Ontario Hydro is currently featuring downtown Thorold in one of their commercials.
The fourth Welland Canal is also an amazing sight, with 800 foot ships, from all over the world, "climbing" the Niagara Escarpment in Thorold. The Viewing Centre at Lock 7 offers the best view of Locks 4, 5 , 6, the twinned lift locks, and Lock 7, the final lift lock.
Thorold has many beautiful parks, gorgeous historic homes and churches, great restaurants and fabulous one-of-a-kind shops.
There are historic sites relating to the War of 1812 and the building of the four Welland Canals. There are also great restaurants and lovely BandB's.
Thorold is just a short drive, about 15 minutes, from Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines etc. As someone else wrote, Thorold is the "best-kept" secret in Niagara!!
We stayed at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast close to downtown.
