Good site but does not deal well with foreign visitors

点评：We stayed at Lucksall camp site for two nights. The pitch we were allocated for our tent was generously sized, flat and on good grass. An electric hook-up was available but we didn’t need it. Toilet/bathroom facilities were clean at all times. Our problem was site security. Access is controlled by an automatic barrier with automatic number plate recognition. Unfortunately this does not work reliably (in our case, at all) with non-UK plates. On the first evening, we were told to call the emergency line for help. The person who answered suggested we were not driving up to the barrier correctly before agreeing to send someone to open it. The lady who helped us acknowledged that this was a known fault with the system which she would try to correct. Unfortunately we had the same problem the second evening. This time we left a message on the emergency line as no one answered it. No help arrived and our vehicle was left overnight in an insecure area. Because of this we decided not to extend our stay. This would make it extremely difficult for overseas visitors to use the site, particularly those using camper vans.
