点评：The market in Ortigia is one of those places you can’t help but be drawn to. It’s lively, colourful, and full of character. Stalls line the streets selling everything from homeware and jewellery to clothing and trinkets, and haggling is all part of the fun. The atmosphere carries on well into the evening, but the highlight is definitely the daily fresh food market, open until around 2pm. Here you’ll find glistening seafood, fragrant spices, sun-ripened fruits, and mountains of vegetables – it’s a feast for the senses.
I thoroughly enjoyed strolling through most days during my stay, soaking up the buzz and the smells of herbs, citrus, and grilled street food. I ended up bringing home a beautiful selection of spices that I can’t wait to cook with – a little piece of Sicily in my kitchen. If you want to experience authentic local life, this market is the place to be.
