We visited to enquire about hiring bikes for the following day, but were met with one of the most unpleasant customer experiences we’ve ever had.
We’re a middle-aged couple — I’m of a larger frame, my husband is fitter — and we were dressed casually in jeans and trainers. Perhaps not what the owner expected from cyclists, but certainly no reason to treat us so poorly.
As we stepped inside (the door was already ajar), the owner barked down from the mezzanine, warning us not to touch his “newly painted door.” He then announced that he was on his lunch (at 2:30 in the afternoon!) and made no effort to come down to greet or assist us properly.
When I mentioned I hadn’t cycled for a few years, he looked me up and down and asked if I was confident on a bike, then added, in a very condescending tone, that his bikes were very expensive. His manner was rude, patronising and frankly humiliating.
As a woman on a health and weight-loss journey, I had researched e-bike weight limits and was genuinely excited to try one before buying my own. Instead, his attitude left me feeling judged and unwelcome — as though my size made me unworthy of hiring a bike.
We left immediately and chose not to return. It’s disappointing that someone working in tourism, in such a beautiful area, can make potential customers feel so small. We walked the Mawddach Trail instead — and for the record, it would have been perfectly manageable, even for an overweight middle-aged woman!
Avoid if you expect even basic courtesy or respect.

我们立即离开了，并且决定不再返回。在如此美丽的地方从事旅游工作的人，竟然会让潜在客户感到如此渺小，这真是令人失望。我们改走莫达赫步道——顺便说一句，这条步道即使对于像我这样身材略胖的中年女性来说也完全可以走完！
如果您希望得到哪怕是最基本的礼貌和尊重，请避开这家店。
