点评:This is your classic roadside attraction, both good and bad. It has cool stuff, it needs some work, it has some questionable elements, and it is fun.
The Car LIfe Museum is not far outside of Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island closer to Victoria-by-the-Sea. It is in a large pole-barn-like structure that has been added onto. The feeling is more like a barn than of a museum.
I would guess that they have 50 cars or so. Some are ones that Detroit would rather forget. One was once owned by the singer Anne Murray, while she was a phys ed teacher in Summerside on PEI. Another is an enormous Chrysler, of the kind memorialized in the B-52s song "Love Shack."
Like many car museums, it seems to have grown out of a private collection. There are descriptive signs on many of the cars, but truthfully, they would look better in a different setting. They have picket fences to keep visitors from touching them, but those fences also limit your ability to see the cars or to take photos. Don't expect the Henry Ford Museum here.
Most of the cars were owned by people from PEI. I believe two or so were among the first cars to cross the Confederation bridge after it opened.
The "star" of the show is Elvis Presley's pink Cadillac, which appears to have been used more for promotional reasons than by the artist for everyday use. [If this kind of stuff interests you, try the great Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville].
Outside they have the remnants of what used to be some sort of children's park. These include various concrete bird statues and other kinds of animals. These are in various states of deterioration, giving them a creepy kind of feel.
This is a lot of fun if you are in the right frame of mind, and you will certainly get a taste of some automotive relics from PEI's past.
