Great For Gem Mining - Not So Great for Jewelry Making

点评：My teens had a lot of fun gem mining at Sugar Creek. The staff was friendly and we found a lot of nice gems. But when we asked about jewelry making, we were informed that they only cut the gems. They do not offer jewelry making. This was a surprise (and a disappointment) to me because their website has "Jewelry Making" as a major header on the main page. Once I looked back at their website and read the details, I did read that they can send the gemstones out to be cut by a lab. It doesn't say that they will make the jewelry. So now I have to find a place to make the jewelry with my cut gemstones. I just think they should change the header on the website to say "gem stone cutting" vs "jewelry making" so that it is more clear. Other gem mining locations I have been to (i.e. Foggy Mountain Gem Mine) offer both the gem stone cutting AND the jewelry making - for a lot less money than it cost me to get just the gem stones cut at Sugar Creek. I guess I could have walked out and gone elsewhere - but we were on a schedule and Sugar Creek was located closer to the other activities we had scheduled that day. In summary - for basic gem mining - Sugar Creek is great - but go somewhere else if you want jewelry made from the gems you mined.
