Named after Fyodor Chumbarov-Luchinsky, a communist who lived in Arkhangelsk for about six months only
Pedestrian Chumbarova-Luchinskogo Avenue的点评
点评:We enjoyed a stroll there in early September. Yes, it's nice, friendly, bustling with pedestrians, and boasting numerous shops and restaurants. I'd just add that while those are quite good, the best places to eat hide somewhat further, though not that far away. They are Pochtovaya Kontora 1786, Roomi, and especially Anrov (see my separate reviews of all three).
That commie guy was neither born nor died in Arkhangelsk, and a normal person would never twig why the heck the city's main street bears his name. Moreover, he drowned some 750 kilometres to the west, not far from Kronstadt, the Russian Baltic Fleet base 30 kilometres from St. Petersburg, running on thin ice and attacking anti-communist sailors in March 1921 (the ice appeared to be too thin). Well, to hell with him.
The street is really lovely, full of quirky statues, manicured lawns, and tidy flowerbeds.
A can't miss.
