点评:We were looking for some cool local walks into the forest park from Whangamatā and this was the obvious local choice.
It’s a nice, gentle gradient up until the last couple hundred metres leading up to the falls. There’s a great lookout of the falls, a formed track to the top of the falls and an unformed track down to the bottom pool at the base of the falls.
It would be a 5/5 but we spent most of the time in a light wasp swarm as they are out to eat everything. It’s a shame, because the forest would be much more diverse if they weren’t consuming every bug that lives. This track would benefit from wasp bait stations.
The wasp complaint only really applies for late summer - early autumn visits, as the hives are settling down for the winter and just doing what wasps do. It’s just that in this location their population was overwhelming and really took away from the beauty of the actual walk.
