A disappointing beach for a family trip

点评：We were really disappointed with Brightlingsea.
We hired a beach hut for the day and had expectations of the kids playing on the beach making sandcastles whilst the oldies popped back for a cup of tea and we’d all have a nice dip in the sea. However the beach absolutely does not allow for this. There’s only a tiny bit of sand at the top of the beach, followed by large area of squelchy mud, leading to the sea which goes too far out to be able to reach to swim in. I swim outdoors year round at various locations in the Uk and there was no way I was going to be able to swim here except at absolute high tide.
There was a kids sand play area adjacent to the beach at the other end of the esplanade but it was very busy as it really is the only place you can get on to the beach. There’s also a tidal pool here but also very busy and more of a splash area for children, if not being deep enough to play in.
The park is also in this area and was nice and my kids enjoyed playing there for a bit.
The public toilets next to the play area were wet and smelly and we struggled to get enough water from the taps to wash our hands. There were some others in the town that were much much cleaner.
The lido looked nice but was fully booked so we didn’t get to try it.
Car parking was easy to find and reasonably priced. Free parking for three hours if you have a blue badge. Also free parking on the road adjacent to the car park. We managed to get a space despite it being nice weather and the school holidays.
There’s a large grassy area adjacent to the car park that would be good for picnics and ball games.
Overall we were disappointed with our day trip but would be okay for a couple of hours with Beth small children.

停车场很容易找到，价格也合理。如果你有蓝色徽章，可以免费停车三个小时。停车场旁边的路上也有免费停车位。尽管天气很好，而且是学校假期，我们还是设法找到了一个车位。
