Extraordinary guides bring alive these excellent collections

点评：We brought out-of-town visitors here on a Wednesday because Sonnenberg was closed. So happy that it worked out that way! Our tour guides, Vicki and Dan, were extraordinary, some of the best I've had anywhere. Their stories about the mansion and the carriage collection brought them alive and included so much interesting historical context. Each segment of the tour (mansion, carriage house) took about an hour, so that made for a long time to stand and listen, too much for some in the group who ended up skipping the second half, a real loss on their part as the carriages are even more unique and interesting than the house. Perhaps the two segments could be separate tours? They did their best on a very hot day to have fans set up throughout the house, offer folding chairs to sit if needed, and bottled water. It still was challenging but worth it for us. In fact because of the excellent guides, it was a better curated experience than we have usually had at Sonnenberg. I felt badly that we didn't have cash to offer tips in appreciation for the excellent job done by the guides.
