点评:Me and my partner booked VIP tickets for a Mozart/ Strauss concert preformed by the Vienna Residenz Orchestra at Palais Auersperg Theatre for Friday 29 December 2023.
On arriving, the theatre was filled to capacity and a few other guests from Poland, Brazil, Australia and South-Africa were also waiting to get seated.
The theatre personal carried in chairs to the side of the stage to provide seating for the 20 overbooked guests – so we only had side views of the artists.
The chairs were not secured, so we moved the chairs in order to have a better view of the artists performing, but also checking with the guests in front row if we are not obstructing their view.
After we were seated the lady in charge/ concierge shouted and screamed and said that we can leave if we do not sit where she put us, and that she would gladly refund us. She even prevented the orchestra to start.
This attitude really spoiled a special event we have been looking forward to for a very long time.
The situation could have been handled in a much more professional way – by firstly apologising for overbooking the theatre.
She could have explained in a normal tone of voice, without shouting and making a scene, embarrassing all the guests, as why we could not move the chairs.
Although the performance was excellent, the concierge/ theatre manager really spoiled the occasion.
I trust that in future Management will ensure that overbooking does not happen.
