点评:Such a wonderful organization in the heart of Rome! It is incredibly close to a frequented bus stop. The ruins are near the sanctuary, but the sanctuary itself is down a short gated staircase and resides under the road. We were told the current population was around 70 cats, all of which are in the process of being trapped, sterilized, and released, or who have health conditions and are being cared for. We tried getting there at 4:00 the previous day, but they were closing the top gate. After getting there earlier and waiting for a while today, I can see why. We waited probably 20-25 minutes to be let inside the first room, where they sell merch to raise money. They tried to kick us out at 4:05 without letting us inside the cat room. This was frustrating, as the woman waiting with us was trying to catch a flight that day and we had already tried the day before. They asked if we could come back tomorrow and we both responded honestly, and they did let us back in the room with the cats for a good 15 minutes. I’m so glad they were understanding! They are truly doing amazing work and have great and undeniable statistics inside. Come before 3:30 if you can, and be prepared to wait a little before you get inside! And don’t forget to donate! They have an adopt-at-a-distance program where you donate €15 a month and they will send you monthly photos of a cat of your choosing through their website, Gatti di Roma. While I may not be able to afford that right now, I hope that some day very soon I can become a part of that!
