点评:Been coming to Torre Argentina since 2016, this maybe my forth time. I have 2 t-shirts (one a gift from the numerous people I’ve advised to go) considered it a spiritual pilgrimage, highlight of my trip et al.
Over the years noticed the ruins rising from the big dig, walkways added and on this last visit- something is just …off.
Less cats, less chances to interact with cats. Got chided for looking at my phone, just not the welcoming, warm place I remember.
I know there was some salty Roman politics even before I started going, seemed like Torre Argentine vs Everybody.
I’m trying to wrap my head around the about face. Is the idea to get people to skip the rescue and visit the ruins- where all the real stars might be hanging?
This would be absolutely fine- they just need to be clear about this- especially w/ regards to schedule- ruins are closed Monday while the shelter is open.
Perhaps collaborate with the city to showcase the best of both- cats and ruins. I know there’s the issue of folks tossing food to the cats especially for interaction- anything for snaps for IG. Maybe have more security?
I love this place and want it to be like it was.
