Great nature reserve with pleasant cafe on site.

点评：RSPB reserve between Leeds and Castleford, originally an open cast mine, The reserve can be accessed by car or by foot, there is a car park (free to members) but there are multiple ways to access the reserve by walking including from along the canal. On site there are various routes to take, the site is not only used by those with an interest in birds but by walkers, cyclists, runners and those horseriding. A small cafe sits by the car park which serves drinks, cakes and snacks, the cafe has tables inside and out, there are toilets available near/and in the cafe.
It is possible to hire an all terrain mobility scooter from the cafe, the paths are gravel so might be challenging for a normal mobility scooter.
Volunteers and RSPB staff are available for advice and they run various community events and workshops throughout the year, these are advertised at the cafe.
