Sangro River War Cemetery的点评
点评：Took my father here to pay our respects to his late Uncle who served in WWII - it was my dads wish to do this for several years and we are probably the first and last family members to do so. We travelled from Cornwall in the UK and the only airport that would fly to Pescara (nearest airport to Sangro River) was London Stanstead. We travelled to London Stanstead and spent the night in a hotel near the airport as we had an early morning flight to Pescara.
The Memorial is about a 40 minute drive from Pescara and I had emailed the Hotel Victoria (the hotel where we stayed in Pescara) in advance and they kindly booked a private taxi transfer for us - I am so glad that I did this as I would of never been able to navigate it or locate it myself. The visit to the memorial is very moving, up on a hill in a peaceful location with just the birds in the background, it is kept immaculate and I am so glad that we were able to locate my Great Uncles grave stone and pay our respects.
If you are looking to locate a particular plot you can find the plot numbers on line at the Common Wealth War Grave Commission website - the plot numbers are for Sangro River for example - XV B 21 - so this would be block 15 row 8 and plot 21.
