点评:I was looking for a fun and interesting place to take our two grandsons, ages 9 and 10. I was so happy to discover the San Antonio Fire Museum conveniently located downtown on Houston Street behind the Alamo. The museum occupies the original Central Fire headquarters building. The volunteers are happy to walk you around and provide a wealth of information on the history of fire fighting in the San Antonio area. There are beautifully restored and preserved fire trucks and equipment of different decades, as well an EMS unit you can all go inside. Our grandsons were able to climb aboard a BIG fire truck and ring the bell (hold your ears!). As a former NY-er I was also pleasantly surprised and moved to see a 9/11 exhibit set up to honor the heroes of a local fire station in the NY area who served on that day. Perhaps our grandsons have been inspired to become part of our nation's future heroes.
There is so much to see here. Many thanks to the volunteers who made our visit special!
