点评:The only reason I didn't rate this a 1 is because the horses were very very good and Luciano was delightful. However, the trip was not at all as written in the literature provided.
When we were given our horses we were told that we had to ride in a single line the entire week and we had to stay in the same order at 1 - 5 meters apart! For six days I looked at the back of the horse in front of me and the line of horses from there. It was more like a child's pony ride than an equestrian adventure. I have never been on an organized ride where this was required, and I have done many around the world.
In addition the riding was much longer days than stated, and it was almost exclusively up and down VERY steep areas most of which were very rocky - difficult, slow, and frankly boring. There was no "tour "of the area involved. Only once was the group as a whole informed of any details of the surroundings, and I believe that happened because we were already stopped, and so informed that we were about to cross a bridge from the Roman times. There were a few villages, three I believe possibly four, that we rode essentially around the perimeter of, not through.
In addition, the Dutch girl, who was basically the English interpreter, was a bossy know it all who in fact hadn't been riding for very long and knew very little about horses: at one point leading the group into a dangerous area of deep mud with a difficult exit when there was a clear alternative. After the horse behind her went down, Luciano riding in the back, immediately stepped in and changed the route.
I was so bored I actually chose to spend one day riding in the car that transported our luggage and brought us lunch every day. Vincenzo was actually delightful and I saw and was told more of Sicily in that one day!
