A delightful experience on little trains.

点评：This is just a delighful place. We wandered up from Black Rocks as the cafe there was closed and we thought we might get a drink here. Let's deal with that first - the lady behind the counter sorted us two hot drinks and we each choose a pack of biscuits. These turned out to be really good. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. We decided we'd also buy tickets for the railway.
We sat outside having our drink and biscuits talking to some of the volunteers about the railway and what journeys they did, There's a lot to learn if you listen.
There are two trains. Our first took us into the quarry where we disembarked and had an informative talk about the stone from the quary and were shown samples of stone with various fossil animals in them.
When we got back to the start it was our turn to go on the other train which took us much further to the edge of Middleton, We had been many years ago but then the train only went up to a small road. The volunteers have now laid lots more track and you travel over the road, with one holding a red flag to prospective traffic, a lot further along the track.
The carriage we travelled in was from a mine, used to take miners through the mine tunnels. It wasn't built for comfort but it had been fitted with cushions and was fine for our journey.
The overall impression of the visit is that these are a friendly group who want you to enjoy your visit - we certainly did. Thank you.
