点评：Excellent public ferry service gives you a chance to view and visit the beautiful islands and other places such as Villa Taranto. Its a cheap and reliable way to experience the lake.
The ticket office in Stresa is right at the ferry terminal. Its a good idea to know which islands you want to visit and in which order, the staff member can then issue the right tickets in the right order and helpfully number them for you.
There is a leaflet with the ferry times which is great but you can also download the ferry timetable online.
There is more than one ferry queue at Stresa terminal, check to the right if you are going to Santa Catalina as its a smaller ferry and at the second area of the terminal a few steps further from the ticket office. The main route to the islands is a queue straight out of the ticket office to the start of the entry gangway. People have an interesting way of queuing in Italy, they fan out to the side to push in rather than just one behind the other. Its definitely a cultural thing as we experienced it in other places. Obviously an annoying habit to people who queue fairly.
The ferries have toilets on board and I found them a lot cleaner than Milan airport toilets the day we arrived!
The seats outside at the back suffer diesel fumes as the ferry reverses out of each island drop off point so don't hang around out there as you will get a headache at the very least. We found the ferries ran mostly to time but with understandable delays due to volumes of people getting on and off at each stop.
