The full story: I reached out after trying to understand Piemonte (aka Piedmont) region wines on my own to no avail. I was overwhelmed by the possibilities -- big producer? Small? Something in between? None of those felt totally right to me (we weren't planning on buying a ton of wine which felt somehow wrong, we're wine-curious but not "wine people') but I didn't know any other options.
Anna responded quickly and thoughtfully. She was able to show my husband and I around an absolute hidden gem town in Piemonte.
For folks who haven't been to Italy before: you quickly learn the country runs on relationships. Anna has those in spades -- staff literally light up when she chats with them, you can just tell people love working with her and want to go the extra mile for her and the folks she brings with her (that would be *you* on a tour.) I won't spoil all the things we saw but I will say we never would have found them on our own. (And I don't admit that lightly as I'm regularly a go-to pseudo travel-agent for my family and friends.)
Lastly, she nailed our tastes immediately -- something I couldn't figure out on my own because you just can't gain this type of context on Piemonte like you can with Florence, Rome, Venice, or even Bologna and Turin. Anna picked perfect locations for us: a balance of educational, relaxed, and authentic-cool.
In the end: My only regret is that we didn't spend MORE time with her, but I hope to be able to go back and do a longer tour with Anna and bring some family with me!
