点评:After much deliberation due to the great expense of what we were planning, I booked a long lunch here for 61 guests. We were travelling from all over New South Wales, so I wanted something really special. We had a bus collect all 61 guests, but due to the fact that a few were stuck in traffic we were running 10 minutes late. While we were on our way, the manager Katherine called me and asked where we were. I explained we were five minutes away and apologised for the delay due to the staggered arrival of all our guests from many locations. She immediately said we needed to hurry and start eating the canapés as soon as we arrived. I was very surprised that a 10 minute delay had caused a problem in what we had been told was a long lunch well into the afternoon. When I booked, We were told if we were over 60 people we would have the beautiful glass function room. Upon arrival, we were quickly usher from the top function room, down to a whole stack of individually set tables under a tin roof on the deck of another area. at a function where you want one long table, separate tables does cause a few problems - much easier to have one long table for cohesion. I am sure a long table 30 each side would have fitted indoors next to the bar? It was extremely hot under that tin roof on the balcony and I just didn’t understand and neither did the other guests why when the restaurant there was completely empty we weren’t indoors? as the afternoon progressed, it became unbearably hot under the tin roof. For some unknown reason they had chosen to see us out here, rather than inside the restaurant with the air conditioning on?
The drinks service was an issue. When we arrived there seemed to be only about 8 beers on ice. Having to make people queue up on the balcony with sometimes only one staff member and then proceed inside to line up again and wait for a drink was very frustrating. It caused huge delays in service.
There were lots of complaints about the beer selection from the men. Apparently they weren’t very nice. I’m not a beer drinker but it would have been nice to have a much wider selection on offer than just the one local brewery. I should have asked for a list of what would be served as I had assumed there would be a much wider choice? I myself only drank the Voddy Toddy’s and I had 3; each one was completely different. One tasted like cordial, one was done with solo type soft drink, and one was done with soda water. For the price we were paying you really need to make sure there is staff training and uniformity on this kind of thing as unfortunately the cocktails weren’t too good.
I’m not sure if the older lady was the managers Mum, our staff member told me she was, but upon leaving she wouldn’t let people into top room to buy a case of cider. They were trying to spend money at her establishment! She kept saying they weren’t allowed in. It was only one member of our party who wanted to buy a case of cider in one minute. I found this very uncomfortable as he’d mentioned he’d like to buy some drinks before leaving. I had presumed they’d be happy for the purchase.
And finally onto the wedding booking. The manager Katherine came up to me at 3pm and told me we would have to leave within the hour. I was astounded! For $125 a head we had all totally assumed that we would be able to linger and watch the sunset which is why we picked your restaurant. I lost count of the amount of times before the 4pm time you had suggested, that countless people came up and told us “your bus is here”. This was so incredibly disappointing.
Unfortunately many people found the manager Katherine‘s manner abrasive, I had lots of comments from friends asking what was wrong with her. I tried to be exceptionally polite at all times. I think she must have been stressed about having 2 events at the one time. I felt like we were on a conveyor belt to make some quick money before the wedding that arrived that afternoon.
Unfortunately there is no way I’d ever be able to recommend the venue. The really sad thing is, before posting on Tripadvisor, I sent two emails that went unanswered. I then called her mobile and again the phone call has not been returned. Looking through the one star reviews on this page, I can see that this is regular treatment from this establishment. How incredibly disappointing.
