Excellent wildlife but timing is important

点评：I spent 4 days in Baluran doing wildlife photography, and it was a great experience.
I see a lot of bad reviews mentioning the lack of wildlife, and I think this probably comes down to timing. This is mostly a very open park with a lot of savannah and in the middle of the day it's much too hot for wildlife. If you take a tour from Banyuwangi that gets to the park in the late morning and leaves early in the afternoon, you probably will be disappointed. I saw lots of deer, wild pigs, peacocks, langurs, buffalo and amazing birds, but mostly only in the late afternoon as the temperature started to cool down. If you are interested in wildlife, this is a great park, but make sure you either stay in the nearby town and rent a scooter (this is what I did) or find a tour that doesn't leave the park until closing time.
My biggest complaint about the park is that they don't open early enough in the morning. The gates open at 7:30AM, and by this time the sun has been up for a while and it's already too hot for the best wildlife viewing. This is why afternoon/sunset is critical.
