点评:What can I say, if you want true, handmade right in front of you Batik, this is the place.
This is my second visit here and my second shirt purchase. When I went the second time, I wore the shirt I bought seven years prior. The lady came out, touched it and said "my batik"...she recognized her work and pulled out the exact same shirt but in a different color. I bought it along with a new more labor intensive one as well.
Tours of the workshop are a must, learning the process is important to understanding the love and labor that goes into making this fabric.
The cap (chop) that made my previous shirt, and the one I just purchased, were pulled out of the cabinet for show, it was surreal and intense all in one.
The ladies that sit for hours witht he tjanting, a sort of wax pen, have patience I will never know, their work is art, and their art is work, they labor with love and patience to make some of the most intensive fabric I have ever seen.
I highly, and strongly recommend a visit here if in Yogja. For $40 american you can have one of the nicest shirts, sarongs or a multitude of different products at different prices you will ever own. Talking pieces they are, I get many comments and compliments om my fabric from the Winotosastro.
Just go, you wont be disappointed.
