点评:I have been going to Okoboji and have owned a home there for over thirty years. I am shocked at what has happened to the Emporium this year.
What has happened to this place? It looks like it is falling down. It does not appear that there has been much maintenance since it was renovated by Dick Brown back in 2005 to 2006. Dick Brown actually saved the building. It is too bad it has fallen into such disrepair. I pulled up and there were faded torn awnings, doors misaligned, filthy bathroom, and other items that show the building is not being maintained. The front entrance is not at all inviting anymore.
Thankfully, the shops are still interesting and restaurants are enjoyable. My nephew says the candy store is like no where else. He loves it and goes there several times on his visits. This is a great place to pick up the obligatory t-shirt or knick knack of Okoboji. I just hope that whomever owns it will start to figure out that this is a building well over one hundred years old and NEEDS SOME MAINTENANCE! Really sad!
