点评：This was a wonderful experience. I’m so glad I was able to learn how to scuba dive from Whitetip Marine Adventures and become a certified Open Water Diver!
To begin with, I chose this certification program (6 dives in 3 days for open water) because I wanted to conquer my fear of swimming in the ocean, and open water. I’ve been swimming all my life, but the ocean has always scared me, and drowning scares me even more. However, the staff at Whitetip, in particular, Andrew and Monika, really helped me overcome my fear.
I came to Fiji on a solo trip to learn how to dive. I only had experience swimming in pools before, and have been swimming for quite a while, but never in saltwater. I communicated this to Andrew, and he assured me that I would be in good hands. I did the open water diver course and tons of research before coming out and doing the real thing. Along the way, I asked Andrew questions and he would always promptly answer and help me through the process. I also appreciated being picked up from where I was staying on Denauru.
My dive instructor, Monika, is one of the main reasons for why I now enjoy diving and have a love for the ocean! She was incredibly patient as I had no experience at all before, and was willing to repeat skills with me until I got them correct. She gave me tons of advice and was so patient while answering my questions. If I didn’t get something right or seemed apprehensive, she and the captain encouraged me (like with my fear of swimming in the ocean with no flotation devices).
I’m happy to say I feel good applying what I’ve learned from my scuba certification in Fiji on future dives. I’m glad I got certified at Whitetip!
