Waste of money, better ways to see flamingoes

点评：This is an underwhelming excursion. If you wish to see flamingos please read on for advice below on seeing them nearby - without paying for a 90-min 'tour'.
Firstly, this Parco is huge and the main entrance not easily accessible. The PF and PQ buses drop off within 800 metres, otherwise you'll need a car/super expensive local taxi to reach.
Main reception is clean, with a nice coffee shop and toilets.
We joined a small, open air electric buggy for the 90 min tour. Sadly, the tour host didn't speak good English - it's not fair to take non-Italian customers and not be able to give them good information. There's no audio guide.
The tour involves driving on a loop circuit, with a dull explanation of passing sights like the man made canals, electricity station and abandoned salt mine. After 45mins we stopped to 'see' flamingos on the giant Lake - they were really far away and only viewed through the guide's super long binocular which was perched on a high tripod.
There are other birds on the wetland, and we saw them too, such as crows and egrets. We stayed there for 45 mins and then returned.
Didn't break the bank for 25 euros per head but it was a dull 90 minutes. Frustrating because the wetlands can always be a great, educational visit with the right customer-centric thinking.
I can see why local cyclists, dog-owners and walkers would regularly visit this huge site. But tourists who want to get close to flamingos should drive/walk/cycle to a location close to the Rodeo Steakhouse near Poetto Beach.
We cycled eastwards up Lungo Mar del Golfo - the road parallel to Poetto Beach - and when we reached the La Marinella restaurant we swung a left on to the Viale C Colombo bridge. Cross the bridge, turn right and walk along a small track near the water edge for 100m. There's small holes in the greenery/bushes. Go through them and you can walk down and see a few hundred flamingos quite close up. Enjoy.
