点评:The Residency is described in its blurb as a historic old house located in the Alice Springs town centre. If you are passing it then it is worth a quick pop in, but it won’t keep you long. You will probably get more out of it if you are a royalist as internally it dates from the 1963 Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, who stayed there for two nights.
For me it was difficult to get excited about this one as the house I currently live in North London is older than this 1928 building and I own underwear that is older than a lot of the artefacts in the museum rooms. But I had to go in after reading the information board outside the property. There is something wonderfully Australian in the fact that one of the considered main attractions of this building was that the then Prince Charles caught food poisoning here during that 1963 visit. I wonder if Windsor Castle has ever considered taking this approach to attract visitors?
