What an incredible experience! Ying, Daniel, and Ying’s father are such kind and wonderful people. We are so grateful to have met them and to have had a glimpse into their daily lives. Learning to cook authentic Thai food in such a genuine way was an amazing and beautiful experience.
The day began at the local market, where we met Ying and shopped for the ingredients of a menu she had specially prepared for us. The market itself was a fantastic experience. After the market, we headed to Ying’s home with her father, and there we met Daniel, Ying’s husband. Daniel is such a friendly and welcoming man, who immediately made us feel at home.
Their house is a little paradise on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, with a stunning jungle garden filled with all kinds of ingredients. Ying explained everything about the flavors—bitter, sweet, salty, spicy—and how she uses them in her dishes. She took her time to calmly explain each step of the cooking process. We learned so much that day and enjoyed incredibly delicious food!
The day flew by so quickly, and before we knew it, it was evening, and we were heading back to our hotel. If you are considering a cooking class, don’t hesitate—there is no better cooking class than Ying’s!
