A Radio Club visit to the museum
Internal Fire Museum of Power的点评
点评：What a stunning day out for the members of the Carmarthen Amateur Radio Society ! Several of our members are also members of this museum and this visit had been planned for some months. We made a wonderful day of it in August 2025.
We were delighted with welcome, the cafe (where you can buy a variety of drinks and foods), which also doubles nicely as a very convenient meeting point if larger parties are attending one of the fabulous 'in steam days' as we did.
The museum has a large number of purpose-built halls that house an incredible array of exhibits and allow them to be running to show off how they would have performed during their working lives.
There are a number of motorbikes, scooters and other tranportations as well.
There is also a fully equipped telephone exchange, with dozens of working telephones scattered about the site, allowing calls to be placed between instruments or even to a speaking clock (brilliant for showing the kids how we used to communicate).
There is also a fully equipped Amateur Radio Station, with a permanent Special Event Callsign, GB2MOP, which licenced Radio Amateurs may operate, subject to showing their licence !
A super day out and very well worth a visit. You can wander about and take in all the sights and sounds for hours.
