Magnificent scenery, enjoyable hiking
Charyn State National Nature Park的点评
点评：As the world's second largest one, this magnificent canyon made of red and yellow sandstone, sculpted by wind, rain, and river. It is said to have formed 12 million years ago.
The canyon is vast, stretching 150 kilometers. Currently, only about 2 kilometers are open to tourists. A leisurely walk, taking your time to explore, including climbing some rock faces, takes about 40-60 minutes one way.
There is small shuttle buses between the starting and ending points. Most tourists walk to the end and then take the shuttle back. The queue at the end is extremely long, and although buses run every 10-15 minutes, the wait can be over an hour. Thanks to our guide Sam's wise suggestion: "Take the bus on the way there (almost no waiting), then walk back." This saved us a lot of time.
We were very lucky; the weather was cool during our visit. That allows us to stroll and admire the magnificent scenery and various unique rock formations – a truly enjoyable experience.
