点评:Certainly the most important attraction in Chengdu. It's absolutely worth your time.
The whole area is quite large and will likely take all of your morning or afternoon. If you arrive at the South Gate (which is further away from public transportation, so you will likely need Didi), all main giant panda enclosures will be near you. You can easily spend a couple hours gradually walking in north-west direction, hopefully spotting a few giant pandas while strolling in a beautiful bamboo forest.
Closer to the center of the area you have panda nurseries as well as red panda enclosures. This is also where you will find restaurants/cafes/bathrooms. From there, you can continue either west towards the Bamboo tower - beautiful building, though not sure worth the climb if the elevator is not working - or north towards more panda nurseries and monkey areas.
Eventually you will find yourself at the West Gate. This area is where the panda pavilions are, i.e. actual air-conditioned buildings with pandas inside them, as opposed to the open air panda villas near the South Gate which are much cooler to see. The pavilions were already closed in late October when I visited. This whole area is also the least shaded; if you entered from South Gate in the morning it's probably afternoon by now, and the relentless Chengdu sun will be burning you as you climb many stairs to the actual West Gate to leave the base. You can connect to the local bus No. 3 that will take you to the metro station.
