BEWARE : Site 37 and wood cockroaches!

点评：We spent the weekend of September 12th to 14th at Site 37. This site is our preferred location due to its spaciousness. However, at night time, we were dismayed to discover that our picnic table was infested with wood cockroaches. This was an entirely new experience for us, as we have frequented Silver Lake Provincial Park on numerous occasions without encountering such an issue. The insects were present not only on the table but also on our tent each night. Despite maintaining a meticulously clean site—ensuring that no food was left unattended on the table—the infestation persisted. We do not bring food into our tent, nor do we consume meals inside it.
Upon preparing to depart on the morning of September 14th, we observed a significant number of cockroaches beneath the tent cover. As a result, we had to take considerable extra time to inspect and pack each item individually to ensure thoroughness. We reported the situation at the main gate, where the staff member expressed sympathy but remarked that “they’re in the region.”
It is worth noting that during a visit to Site 37 just four weeks prior, we did not experience any such problem. If wood cockroaches are indeed prevalent in the area, as the staff indicated, it would be prudent to inform park visitors of this potential infestation to allow them to take necessary precautions.
