点评：Visit off season! Late summer and fall are IDEAL. You won't have any parking hassles nor any crowds but there will still be enough humanity around that you won't feel isolated.
The inland side of this barrier beach has small rocks and stones. You can walk on them with sneakers but this probably isn't where you'd set up a beach towel. You could, at low tide,and you'd have tame, almost pond-like calm water warmed by the afternoon sun. You'd also have a view of the Powder Point Bridge and nice houses on the shore.
This inland side also features beautiful migrating shorebirds but realize that these are FRAGILE CREATURES THAT YOU DON'T DISTURB. If you've got wild kids who like to throw rocks, do humanity and Mother Nature a favor and stay away from this area.
The ocean side is pure sand and wide open water with nothing man made to sully your view. Every time I've been here the water is clean and the waves are small (but they break beautifully) to medium. Understand that further down (to the right if you're facing the ocean) vehicles with beach permits may be on the beach if the sand conditions permit. They generally park and stay that way, it's not like a busy highway on the beach.
There is a hard packed but unpaved road that runs along the center of this barrier strip but you cannot drive it (legally) without an OSV (oversand vehicle) permit from the Town of Duxbury. There are houses on what's called The Gurney (Google it) so residents need to use this road.
People also walk this road. If you do walk it, there are various places where you can access the ocean facing beach through breaks in the fence. If you are walking, just in mind that you might get slightly dusty if it's dry and the (relatively few) vehicles with OSV permits drive fast enough to kick up dust clouds. Most drive in a manner that is considerate of walkers.
This is not a beach with entertainment. This is a beautiful beach in a mostly very natural state.
