点评:I need to be quite clear. This once-amazing, tidal filled pool is not open for swimming ... yet. However, renovation is underway and there is a modern cafe which wasn't open when we visited, but was due to do so in about half an hour and lots of people were flocking to it, so that speaks for itself. It gets great reviews and is mainly run by volunteers, I understand. We hope to go back later in the year. I swam in this pool as a teenager, but its demise started in the 70s when holidays became less home-based. It eventually closed in the 90s. There were three pools, and you can still see where they are. There was a little paddling pool, a bigger, reasonably shallow boating pond and the tide fed pool which our swim-loving family loved, apart from the barnacles in some places at the deeper end. A dedicated group of people is working on renovating the pools, but starting with the cafe was inspirational. As we walked around, we kept meeting people sharing their memories of delightful summers spent here. The cafe has a rooftop viewpoint and we were only sorry we couldn't stay for a cuppa.
