点评：Beautiful park. Lake was very warm, with very good swimming beaches. I was told the beaches on the south lake such as the main beach are warmer than on the north lake. Plenty of kayaks and paddle boards, but they did run out of a certain type of canoe quite early i.e. 9:30 am. Long and slow line ups for equipment rentals between 9 and 10 am.
Great hike up the Cliff trail across the lake with fantastic views. About an hour up and down total. It took me a while to find the trailhead for the Shield trail, but I eventually did and enjoyed that 2 hour hike, but quite rough (locks of rocks, roots and mud to manoever around).
Excellent camping facilities. Mostly large camping sites surrounded by lots of tall trees, so quite a bit of privacy in most spots. I lucked out with no parties or loud kids in my area, so it was dead quite after dark. No roads or traffic to disturb either.
I did get lost my first day trying to find the Visitor Centre which is not located at the Visitor Center parking lot. Strange. The signage is very bad around there and I ended up walking to the equipment rental place and asking for directions to the Visitor Centre which turned out to be! located in the opposite direction in the middle of the woods. Kind of strange to place it nowhere near a parking lot, but I guess it is there because it is an historic building. The gift shop next door sells cups of coffee and a few baked goods while supplies last. They open at 9 am.
Otherwise, beware! Bring your own food and supplies. There is literally nowhere to buy food for at least a 20 minute drive. Lakeside Inn in Cloyne is in fact the closest restaurant but has limited hours. i.e. closed at 5 pm Sunday, closed all day Monday...
