Terrible trout fishing. We only saw course fish in the trout lakes.

点评：The Barlow site has changed a lot under the new owners. If you're a fly fisherman, it has not changed for the better. There used to be three trout lakes. One was a decent size. The other two were quite small. The larger trout lake has now been merged with a course lake leaving only the two tiny lakes for trout fishing. That was a huge dissapointment when I saw the change. To make matters worse, the two 'trout' lakes only seemed to be stocked with young carp. Not one member of our group even saw a trout all day let alone caught one. One of the course fishermen actually advised us not to bother as he is a regular and hadn't seen anyone catch a trout for quite some time. I honestly don't think there were any trout in the lakes. The lakes get pretty shallow in places and we didn't see any trout.
To add insult to injury, the new owners have pretty much halved the amount of water to fly fish and they've actually put the fly fishing fees up! Granted, the previous owners used to buy in some pretty small fish when they restocked the lakes. But at least there were usually some trout around to get a line out to. Considering that there is an outstanding fly fishing location not too far away by car, we were left with the impression that the owners are slowly converting the whole site to course fishing. That might be wrong, but when you only see course fish in a fly fishing lake, what else are you supposed to think?
