As far as free park spaces go, Markeaton is amazing. There is loads to do all year round but especially in the summer. On our last visit our 4yr old went on a bouncy castle*, drove around a little electric car circuit, went up a giant inflatable slide 15 times, had a walk in the small woodland and played on three separate play areas. The time before we had a picnic and played mini golf too. There is a pitch and putt/football golf, a boating lake, a model railway, tennis courts, a cafe, ice cream van and a paddling pool that unfortunately was being refurbished.
* Some activities incur a small cost but are all great value for money.
