点评:Important Reality Check for Senior & Casual Hikers — This Trail Is NOT “Moderate”
I hiked the Ripple Rock trail recently and want to offer a more honest perspective for other senior or casual hikers. While it’s often rated “moderate,” I believe this rating vastly underestimates the real physical and safety demands of the trail.
What to expect:
• Several very steep sections with loose, jagged rocks that require sure footing and balance.
• Scrambling is required — this is not a groomed path. You’ll need your hands at times.
• At least 4–5 large fallen trees must be climbed over — no easy workarounds.
• The final 1 km is a fairly steep uphill in full sun, just when you’re getting tired.
• A fall could be serious, and rescue access is very limited. Think twice if you’re unsteady or hiking solo.
I’m in good shape and still found it quite difficult. With the combination of heat, incline, rugged terrain, and remoteness, this is not a trail for anyone with mobility issues, balance concerns, or limited stamina. Poles, proper footwear, water, and a hiking partner are strongly recommended.
Please reconsider before taking this on if you’re unsure. There are many safer, scenic alternatives nearby.
