DO NOT GO unless you wear anti-mosquito clothing and drown yourself in repellent

点评：We visited Cousin in Nov 2023.
We booked Cousin island as part of a 3-island excursion (Cousin, Curieuse and St. Pierre) through Mason's Travel, which as a supplier were pretty good. Clean catamaran, lively crew and nice food. Cousin island is small and due to the protected nature is left untouched in order to protect the wildlife. We have no problem with this at all but they shouldn't be taking tourists there. Within 2 minutes we were getting covered in mosquitos.
The party split into a few groups and we headed "inland" with our tour guide. However none of us listened to a single word he said as all anyone cared about was swatting the mozzies.
They. Were. EVERYWHERE.
Millions of them.
It wasn't at all worth it as the island (with accompanying wildlife) was really boring. We saw a couple of birds, a tortoise and a swamp (which was to blame for the mosquitos). Excellent.
We weren't told to wear special clothing (i.e. long sleeved shirts, or trousers) and just advised to "apply your insect repellent - which we did but had little effect).
The following day I counted my bites: 25 on one hand, 46 on the other and 125 on my back. Up my arms and ankles too. AWFUL.
