Lovely animal experience and food
Chew Valley Animal Park的点评
点评：We visited today for a capybara experience for our daughter’s birthday. Experience was great. The keep was very knowledgeable and our daughter really enjoyed. All of the staff we lovely and very helpful.
The gift shop has some nice things that were reasonably priced.
We ate in the restaurant and we all enjoyed the food. Our son had a pizza that was huge. 1 between 2 with a bowl of chips would have been plenty for 2 people but he gobbled it down! Thankfully the restaurant as warm as the shop, toilets and additional seating area were really cold.
The park itself was lovely. Lots of animals, some that were quite unusual and incredible to see so close up (the eagle owl was enormous!) The goats are quite cheeky so be aware that if you are visiting with children or someone who is little unsteady that they will jump up on you if you go into their enclosure and have food!
I think on a warmer day we could have stretched wandering around to 1.5-2hrs. There were 3 talks on too but we missed those. I think 2.5hrs would be more than enough looking around if you added in a cuppa/drink stop in the restaurant.
Carers & additional needs- 2 issues that we encountered that you need to know:
1) Carers ticket. This park now only accepts a Carers UK ID card as proof. A DWP letter will no longer be accepted so make sure you have one.
2) Floor in the main restaurant has what can only be described as a ‘bouncy’. The vibrations of people walking around were quite unpleasant and our son who is autistic found this particularly difficult. In the end we sat nearest the wall on the left as you go in which seemed to be a bit better but still not great. One of the lights was also flickering which just added to his sensory overload.
Being the only warm place to wait while my daughter and husband enjoyed their animal experience was quite difficult. If the weather had been better we would have moved outside. It’s such a lovely space with a beautiful log burner so it’s a real shame.
We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to others.
