点评:While Luxor surprises you with its beautiful layouts, wide roads and all the attractions, Edfu brings one back to reality. Edfu lies on the western side of the Nile. To get to the Temple of Horus, from the banks, we had to take a horse carriage to the Temple. The town is pretty beaten down and one experiences the poverty in Egypt during the ride.
The Temple of Horus is a very important complex. It is a sprawling complex, and it would take quite a bit of time to get through the entire Temple in detail. There is a majestic tower at the entrance and two statues of Horus followed by a courtyard which is very wide and flanked by columns. The walls are replete with carvings depicting very intriguing stories from those times. The walls are very well preserved, and the rooms inside have enough ventilation although we were a little hampered by the huge crowd of tourists.
When we got back outside, we had a little bit of trouble locating our horse carriages. It was utter chaos outside with tourists trying to find their carriages
