If you are in the Valley of the Kings you should entry this special tomb
Tomb of King Tutankhamun (Tut)的点评
点评:This tomb is just one in the Valley of the Kings. It takes a special ticket beyond the entry ticket.
There was a line to enter this tomb, as might be expected. A guard scans your ticket at the actual tomb entry spot.
There is a long-ish descending walkway. It was crowded in this area too but the guard scanning the tickets was keeping count and only lets folks in as some leave. Take your time descending. I'm 5 ft 2 inches and didn't have to bend over any of the way.
The real decorations are in the burial chamber where there is an outer sarcophagus and the actual mummy of the pharaoh, enclosed in what appeared to be glass.
The east, west and south wall are painted with scenes for the afterlife. Twelve baboon deities, from the Book of Amduat, "What is in the Underworld", represent the hours of the nighttime. The King would have to travel through the hours to reach the afterlife.
The South wall shows the King with the God Anubis and Goddess Hathor with ankhs in their hands. Ankhs represent eternal life.
It is quite spectacular even in its present state.
