点评:Ever since we were kids, the story of Tutankhamun, the famous boy king captured our imagination. So standing here, in the heart of the Valley of the Kings, about to step inside his tomb… this was a true bucket list moment for us.
And somehow, it still exceeded every expectation.
Walking down the narrow passageways of the Tomb of Tutankhamun, the very tomb discovered back in Discovery of Tutankhamun’s Tomb, genuinely feels like stepping back in time. It’s one of those rare travel moments where everything you’ve seen in documentaries, films, and books suddenly becomes real. And it hits you.
Inside, the walls are beautifully decorated with scenes representing the journey through the afterlife, including the 12 stages of the night, symbolised by baboons. It’s surprisingly easy to follow, and it really gets your mind racing as you try to piece together the beliefs and stories of ancient Egypt. But nothing prepares you for what comes next. Because here, in this tomb, Tutankhamun is still present.
Seeing his mummy resting inside the tomb is a powerful, almost overwhelming experience. You’re not just visiting a historical site, you’re coming face to face with one of history’s most iconic figures. It’s quiet, it’s humbling… and honestly, it gave us goosebumps.
This tomb does require an additional ticket on top of your standard entry to the Valley of the Kings, but without question, it is worth every single penny. We’d go as far as saying you shouldn’t visit without experiencing it.
Timing, as always, makes a huge difference. We entered right at 6am and had the tomb completely to ourselves, just us and the boy king. A surreal silence filled the space, the kind where you could hear a pin drop… and somehow, it said everything.
For anyone with even the slightest interest in history, this is more than a visit. It’s a moment you’ll carry with you forever.
