Heartbreaking Decline After 5 Years of Visits
New York Renaissance Faire, Tuxedo Park, NY的点评
点评:I have been attending the New York Renaissance Faire with friends for the past five years, and it used to be one of our favorite traditions. Sadly, this year will be our last.
The magic and immersion that once defined the Faire have completely eroded. In past years, both guests and performers contributed to the atmosphere, making you feel like you had stepped into another world. Now the Faire feels overrun with people who have no interest in participating. Many show up in sports jerseys or band t-shirts and openly mock those who spend so much time and effort creating beautiful costumes and characters. Instead of being celebrated, the people who bring the spirit of the Faire to life are laughed at and ridiculed, and the sense of community has been lost.
The overcrowding made things even worse. It felt as if tickets were heavily oversold. From the moment we entered until closing time, the grounds were packed shoulder to shoulder with no space to breathe or enjoy the attractions. Nearly everyone I overheard was complaining about the crowds. It is long past time for the Faire to implement a strict daily cap on ticket sales.
The parking situation was just as frustrating. After sitting in traffic for a long crawl, the parking attendants we encountered were unhelpful and extremely rude. There were no clear directions, only hand-waving and yelling at drivers who misunderstood what was being mimed. It made for a stressful and unpleasant start and finish to the day.
What was once a joyful and immersive experience has become overcrowded, stressful, and disheartening. I am grateful for the memories this Faire once gave me, but after this year’s experience, I cannot see myself returning.
