点评：I call it the Machu Picchu of Sri Lanka - the Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a must to anyone who venture north of Sri Lanka.
Our journey started at 5am from Hotel Sigiriya with the hope to catch the sunrise. REMEMBER to book your tuk-tuk in advance. Our driver was Chaminda +94 779692723. Roughly 5 min drive to the entrance point.
Paid the entrance fee of LKR10,500 per foreign adult and off we went. Since June is considered a low season for western foreigners we were the few tourists that began our ascent. The stairs.. the endless stairs.. can be challenging so take deep breaths and short breaks in between.
Yes! We made it to the top just in the nick of time to catch the sunrise. All the huffing and puffing paid off. Wasn’t too crowded at the top and many young and old successfully made it to the top.
Super breezy so watch your hat from flying off. The terraces still somewhat preserved and the breathtaking views are exhilarating! We were lucky that there wasn’t many tourists. It took us about 30 mins to make the ascent. Walking down can be gruelling with bad knees so again take your time and hold the hand rails for support.
