点评:Bijilo Forest Park - perhaps, once it was a thriving pocket of biodiversity in a urban area, is now a stark reminder of how neglect and mismanagement erodes nature. At the ticket room, the staff also seeks peanuts and bananas and packs these things into plastic bags to carry inside the park. If this is not surprising, once inside, the staff claiming to be responsible for orienting visitors, instead of talking about flora and fauna or conservation, talks about how risky its to go further without a private guide and anyone going without a guide ends up being bitten by the monkeys. Conservation is not even a slogan around here. A shop inside sells water and fizzy drinks in plastic bottles and cans. Visitors are free to leave these things wherever they want. With construction on both sides air is heavy to breath. There’s hardly any biodiversity left. This park, popularly known as the Monkey Park, has failed the monkeys and birds whose habitat it is meant to be. Very few of them are left in the park who concentrate not far from the entrance gate. The Bijilo Forest Park needs protection, sincere conservation, accountability and community stewardship before it’s too late.
