Amazing ancient artwork

点评：We only visited the cave paintings on our stay. When you arrive you are met at a large shed where you park your vehicle , and a gentleman takes your details , and are then directed to the main reception a 10 minute walk away. Here you pay your entrance fee and you wait to be allocated to a guide. There is a small cafe here where you can get snacks and drinks and also toilets. Our guide was Elizabeth and there were only 2 other guests in our group, and she gave us a short welcome talk before we set off on the tour. The trip takes about 50 minutes in total, but it depends on the speed of the guests walking. Be aware the whole walk is out in the open so be sure to wear a sunhat and sun cream and take water with you. We went in the afternoon and it was 38 degrees , almost too much to walk in, but apparantly the best weather and time to see the paintings. Your guide leads you around the site, there is a fair bit if walking and clambouring over rocks. Each time to you get to a large rock with drawings on the guide talks you through what they all mean , and is happy to answer any questions you may have. There is plenty of time to take photos at each spot and also to enjoy the spectacular views around the area There are so many different scenes , and some really incredible artwork of easily recognizable animals. It is amazing that they have lasted for thousands of years, and new ones are being discovered and researched by academics as they continue to study the site. Unfortunately it got too hot for me at one point and I felt quite ill, luckily our guide and other guest were really understanding and we sat in the shade of a tree whilst I drank some water to recover.
