点评:We visited the Maputo National Park in April 2025, staying across 3 different campsites.
Getting to the entrance of the park is easy enough. But it's a good idea to heed their guidance - the roads are 4x4 only and you should deflate your tyres for easier travelling.
This is an untamed park - there is certainly a fair amount to see. But it's also quite dense bush so animals need to be nearby to be visible. The proximity - in every campsite - to a lake provides a lovely backdrop to the experience.
It's a good idea to check beforehand which road and sites are available for booking.
A lovely thing about this park is that it has inland campsites as well as seaside campsites. We took in both, which are individually special in their own ways. The seaside campsites are run privately and are generally better appointed and well run.
Unfortunately, the park is frequented by rather unpleasant locals who tend to visit from Maputo. Generally, they were rowdy and ignored all rules. They just arrived at a campsite which we had booked exclusively and refused to leave until every late. They also departed without cleaning up after them.
Finally, there is a fair amount of little along the road in the park, and it would be good to see this dealt with by the authorities.
